We’ve found a way to escape from this stressful life and return to the roots. We believe that by incorporating nature back into your life, you will find the break you need.
That’s how Ark-Shelter was born. Ark gives you an escape and a shelter to protect you. Our appreciation for low-tech architecture has created a home that everyone can enjoy. At first, it was a shelter, a cocoon without TV, a silent place to reconnect with and appreciate nature, a cozy home where you could find yourself.
Afterwards we realized that our homes have to be more oriented to our biological rhythms. Our designs are easily adaptable to the different stages in your life, and transform with sides that fold open. Our Arks adjust to the landscape and become an extension of nature.

Connect with nature
Get back to the roots by reconnecting with nature, your senses and your natural biorhythm.
With our unique designs, we want people to recharge in a minimalist space and focus on the here and now. At the same time, our Arks also help you reconnect with nature. You can, for instance, fall asleep under the night sky in your Ark-Shelter with a big glass ceiling.
We generate houses in which people can rediscover their lost sense of daily life and restore their natural biorhythms.

Our Arks are created by craftsmen. Thanks to our high quality wood skeleton structures we can guarantee a durable, solid design that shelters you from all the elements. Here are some of our design principles.

The process
Production process
The biggest advantage of building according to this principle is the speed with which projects can be realized. Compared to traditional construction, it is possible to save up to 50% time after finalizing the designs.
While the permit is being applied for, we start the production process of the mobile care shelter, which takes about 12 weeks. While the unit is prefabricated and fully finished, the screw foundation can be set up and the utilities put into position.
A construction time of 12 weeks and an installation time of less than 1 working day make this an extremely attractive solution, especially considering the outstanding quality that lasts for years and its ease of maintenance.

The brains behind Ark-Shelter.
Michiel De Backer
Founder
Michiel is born and raised in Lichtervelde. He studied architecture at St Lucas in Ghent, where he developed a passion for modular architecture, leading to the creation of Ark-Shelter. He is creative, charismatic and his experience will always lead towards the best solution.
Martin Mikovcak
Founder
Martin, an Architect from Čadca, Slovakia, crossed paths with Michiel during his exchange at St. Lucas, where they conceived the concept of Ark-Shelter. As head of design and production he is always optimizing plans, streamlining production, or inventing new techniques.
Pieter Dejager
Co-founder Ark-Shelter Care
Pieter originates from a textile family from Deerlijk and obtained a master’s in economics in Brussels. With past experiences as an international equestrian and in the event industry, he co-founded Care-Shelter and brings past experiences, organization, planning and a sales orientation to the team.
Janie Demeestere
As operations manager she is on top of all aspects of our business. Being part of the company from the early days allowed her to really grow into her role and knows every in and out. She is the central point of contact for all customer requirements and prefers a personal approach.
